Spring Mantle Decorations & Kirklands Gatehill Curtains

Happy [SpRiNg] Beauties!

FINALLY Spring has arrived, and I am so excited for the sunshine, warm breeze & blooming flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

The spring season always motivates me to make big changes, and start anew. Typically for me this means cleaning, DIY projects & clothing donation. But this year I decided that our living room needed a little spring makeover too! (I know I know, we’ve only been living here for 7 months lol) but the dark burgundy curtains and black wrought iron touches I added in the fall were making the room feel a bit too heavy for me.

AFTER

Ahhhh.. I feel like I can breathe again!

Also as you can see, our shiba inu Kissu makes herself comfortable no matter the decor ๐Ÿ˜‰

The biggest change I made to our living room was switching out the curtains. New curtains are a no fail way to change the look of any room! I decided it would be best for Spring/Summer to go with a light, airy and neutral color palette. So I opted for taupe curtains in a fun geometric pattern. Our new drapes are the 95” Gatehill Curtains from Kirklands, and they come in a 2 pack for less than $40, ya cant beat that with a stick! My fabulous friend ended up picking these up for me in Georgia since all of our local stores were sold out in the 95” length. I do know that these particular curtains are currently sold out online, however I did contact Kirkland’s, and they said they should be restocked in May ๐Ÿ™‚
I was pleasantly surprised with both the weight and quality of these curtains. Talk about luxury on a budget! I highly recommend them.

* quick note- try to avert your eyes from the vase and unmatched twigs & berries. They don’t have a home right now, so they’ve been camping out next to the fireplace temporarily ๐Ÿ˜‰

The other changes that I made were to the fireplace mantle decor.
I had a picture in my head of what I was wanting, and went right to work scouting out my pieces!
I took down the wrought iron candle holder and replaced it with a gorgeous old window that I bought from a private seller whom I discovered on a local yard sale website (I actually ended up purchasing 3 from her, couldn’t resist, so stay tuned for fun old window diy’s!)
I also added a boxwood wreath with burlap ribbon for a bit of colorful farmhouse flair.
Flanking the mantle, I went for some height and added 2 distressed antique white candlesticks topped with boxwood balls, and a boxwood topiary.. In my world you can NEVER have too much boxwood.. ever.
I recently purchased the distressed ceramic artichoke on sale for only $4 at Michael’s Craft Store, who could resist? I just love it.
I also added a final pop of color with an old apothecary jar that I already had; I layered it with moss balls from the dollar store and faux limes from Target.
Our big “B” initial found its place back on the mantle, next to a small farmhouse tea light holder from Christmas Tree Shops.
